Oh yes. It is the end. Don’t let the question mark fool you. I hadn’t done shading on this page because I thought it’d look less like natural sunlight if I did but I think it just looks unfinished. Live and learn I suppose
So one of the comments I got alot, that I really expected, was that Johnny didn’t look like a little boy. He looked like some freaky midget. This was something I was aware of, but I figured people would either accept he was Lil’ Bruce Campbell or wouldn’t. There are no children with sideburns. It was important to me to show him with his father so he would look young by comparison. It was also important to for me to show that the adults just didn’t realize the kids were zombies.
I do feel like I wrap this whole thing up a little quickly. But I actually originally wanted to fit the whole story arc into eight pages for the submission but just couldn’t swing it. Beleive it or not this is the pace I’d originally planned this arc. I didn’t make it shorter because I was rejected.
It was quite the eventful weekend! Webcomics Weekend was pretty cool. I got a mini-comic from KC Green. Got to finally meet Dawn Griffin, and spent most of the day chatting with David Gallaher and Bobby Timony. I also spent some money I didn’t have on some Dinosaur comics t-shirts, putting me in an awkward financial position for the rest of the month. Good one, stupid. Sunday I moved Ryan into my spare room, I’m going to have to do some handyman type work to make sure the place is livable for two people. I’m sure it won’t be long before you see some of his jokes sneaking back into comics here and there.
Today’s comic is the first AFTER the 8 page submission. I like to finish my storylines, regardless of what you might thing with the hanging open C@P and MDW storylines. I loved the lower left group of panels here. I might try to do something like that in another project in the future. I think it worked really well.
This is the last page of the Zuda entry. It was Ryan’s idea after the huge suspense action of the previous page Tubs should only be a few inches away from the gun barrel.
And I think it’s pretty clear at this point that in my head this comic has Dexter’s Lab type sound effects.
